Art Instruction

Learning to Paint with the Masters

Joslyn Art Museum
Thursdays: January 12, 19, 26, February 2, 9; 6-8:30 pm
Joslyn Members: $95; General Public: $108
Instructor: Jean Mason

Let the timeless master painters be your artistic navigators in this class. Each session methodically examines a different master's painting currently exhibited in the Joslyn gallery.

After gaining an understanding the art history surrounding the work, the student will then copy the master work by completing a small-sized acrylic painting.

This final hands-on approach will greatly assist the student in developing a more comprehensive understanding of the effort, history, style and vision poured into the original work.

During these classes students will learn new master acrylic painting techniques including:

  • frescos
  • old master glazing techniques
  • impressionism
  • cubism
  • abstract impressionism

Art Instruction Opportunities with BAA Members

Many Bellevue Artists Association members offer instruction in their specialized areas of art. Please navigate to the art instruction page to find out more - click here .

Lied Activity Center

The Lied Activity Center is a community activity center operated by the Bellevue Public Schools (BPS). BPS has extended an opportunity for the Bellevue Artists Association (BAA) to hang artwork for display around the walking track. This provides the BAA an additional local opportunity to display our work. If you wish to display some of your work at this facility, follow the instructions listed below.

When you first enter the Lied Activity Center, locate the red notebook at the front desk. Inside the notebook, find the " hold harmless " form. This needs to be signed by the artist. The artist must then fill out the tags to be displayed with each piece of artwork. The tags provide spaces for the following: Title of Work, Artists Name and Telephone Number. Note - we are longer able to list prices due to the facilities affiliation with the BPS.

Contact Charlene Potter with questions about either of these opportunities.
